Koraput Group Tour: 2-Day Weekend Itinerary, Inclusions & Tips

Planning a trip with friends, colleagues or a college gang? A Koraput group tour is one of the easiest ways to see the best of southern Odisha in a single weekend: waterfalls, misty hills, coffee gardens and a night under the stars on a hilltop. This guide covers why Koraput works so well for groups, a tested 2-day weekend itinerary, what is included and how to book.

Why Koraput is perfect for a group tour

Koraput sits high in the Eastern Ghats, so the weather stays pleasant for most of the year and the landscapes change every few kilometres: deep valleys, tabletop hills, rivers and waterfalls. Most of the highlights are spread out and the roads are not easy to navigate on your own, which is exactly why a planned group trip makes sense.

  • Everything in one weekend: two of Koraput’s best-known waterfalls, the highest peak in Odisha and a hilltop camp fit into just 2 days.
  • Lower cost per person: transport, camping gear and the trip host are shared, so a group pays far less than a private trip.
  • No planning stress: pickup, meals, tents, bonfire and sightseeing are arranged by a local team that knows the roads and the weather.
  • Made for memories: campfire music, sunrise on the hills and new friends from the same group.

2-day Koraput group tour itinerary

This is the itinerary we run on our 2 Days Sightseeing + 1 Night Hilltop Camping group tour. It starts and ends at Damanjodi Railway Station, so you can arrive by train in the morning and leave the next evening.

Day 1: Waterfalls and a night of hilltop camping

  • Morning: pickup at Damanjodi Railway Station, check-in, breakfast and freshen up.
  • Rani Duduma Waterfall: a quiet, green waterfall and the first stop of the trip.
  • Duduma Waterfall: one of the most dramatic waterfalls in Odisha, dropping into a deep gorge on the Machkund river.
  • Evening: a short refreshment break, then around 4:30 PM the group heads to Putsil Tabletop Mountain for camping.
  • Night: premium double-layered tents, bonfire, music on a JBL Party Box and a hot biryani dinner (veg or non-veg).

Day 2: Sunrise, coffee gardens and Deomali

  • Sunrise: wake up above the clouds with morning snacks and fresh coffee at the campsite.
  • Talamali Hilltop: wide open grasslands and panoramic views over the Koraput highlands.
  • Coffee garden: walk through a local coffee plantation, one of the things Koraput is famous for.
  • Deomali: finish at the highest peak in Odisha (about 1,672 m) before the drop back to Damanjodi station.

What is included in a Koraput group tour

Our 2-day group tour package is priced per person and covers almost everything you need: station pickup and drop, an AC Traveller for all sightseeing, 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner, a refreshment stay, full camping setup with bedding, bonfire and music, a trip host and parking fees. Train tickets, personal expenses and travel insurance are not included. A 50% advance confirms your seat, and sharing costs with a group keeps the price per person low. Weekend group departures

Our group tours run on weekends, so you only need a day or two off work:

  • Saturday: arrive at Damanjodi station, waterfalls and a night of hilltop camping
  • Sunday: sunrise at camp, Talamali, a coffee garden and Deomali, then drop at the station

Seats are limited because each group shares tents and one vehicle. Message us on WhatsApp to check the next weekend departure or to plan a custom date for your own group.

Best time for a group trip to Koraput

Koraput is lovely almost all year, but each season feels different:

  • October to February: the most popular time. Clear skies, cool days and cold nights make it ideal for hilltop camping and sunrise views.
  • March to May: warmer days but still pleasant on the hills; good for sightseeing with fewer crowds.
  • July to September (monsoon): waterfalls are at their fullest and the hills turn bright green, though camping depends on the weather.

What to pack for a Koraput group tour

  • A warm jacket or hoodie (hilltop nights get cold, especially in winter)
  • Comfortable walking shoes with good grip
  • Torch or phone power bank
  • Basic medicines and any personal prescriptions
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and a cap
  • A refillable water bottle
  • ID proof for check-in
