Bari Waterfall Trek
The Bari Waterfall is a recent discovery and ranks among the finest in Odisha, primarily due to its remote location and the thrilling journey to reach it. Located 40 km from Semiliguda and 60 km from Koraput town, this waterfall straddles the border between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Water gracefully meanders through the picturesque farmlands of Odisha before plunging into Andhra Pradesh. It’s one of the tallest waterfalls in Odisha, offering an adrenaline-pumping adventure. There are two routes to reach the waterfall: one through Bari village, with a moderate trek to the waterfall, and the other for the intrepid souls who relish off-road adventures. The latter path takes you to Talagumandi village, featuring a challenging 4-5 km off-road stretch before embarking on a multiple-hill trek, promising an extraordinary experience. Enlist the guidance of a local villager or a knowledgeable guide to navigate your way. If you’re a trekking enthusiast, this is paradise.
Thuria Konda Trek
Thuria Konda, the second-highest peak in Odisha’s eastern ghats, stands tall at 1597 meters (5240 feet). It’s a unique gem in the Koraput district, cherished by both hikers and trekkers. A visit to Thuria Konda guarantees an unforgettable experience and breathtaking vistas. A trek of approximately one and a half hours leads to its summit, where the view is nothing short of mesmerizing. The icing on the cake is the ability to spot Odisha’s highest peak, Deomali Hills, from this vantage point.
To embark on the Thuria Konda trek, head to Galigabdar waterfall. After crossing it, reach Galigabderu village, where you’ll need to park your vehicle. From there, embark on a 1-1.5 hour trek to the summit, which is of moderate difficulty. This destination is a must-visit for trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
